“One life. One body. One choice.”- Tracy McKithern
I made up this quote a few years ago when I was a full time personal trainer working in a large “globo gym”. We only have one body and I believe the happier and healthier your body is the happier and healthier your brain and heart become. A fit lifestyle, to include good clean food, and consistent exercise have been an integral part of my entire life.
As I grow older, 42 in 2 short months, I now believe the health and happiness of your brain and heart translates to your body, it is a two way street. I have suffered devastating injuries and devastating heart breaks. It has taken time for every hurt and injury to heal. Some injuries, like my spine may never be the same, but, I keep driving on. I have had my body fat as low as 15 and as high as 30, I have had a Deadlift as high as 405 pounds (personal record) and as low as 65 pounds after an injury.
In my personal life, I have been married and divorced endured terrible circumstances as a child and enjoyed some of the happiest moments of my life at varying degrees of body fat levels and personal strength records. Life is indeed what you make of it. Here are some images of me and my spine taken this morning.
We have one life, one body and one choice. Please make yours healthy and happy.

“If you brake, you don’t win” – Mario Cipollini
I recently traveled to San Antonio to meet Duane, a cyclist instructor. We had planned a photo shoot with his cycle and at the last moment it was unavailable to us. As with fitness and life, we took the hit and drove on.
( not Duane’s bike, it was locked nearby )
Living a fit lifestyle is much like life; if you “brake” you don’t win. We all have good workouts/days and we all have bad workouts/days, but we must never give up. The beauty in life is found on the journey, not the destination.

While in Panama, we attended a sling load class. The aircraft hovers over soldiers who brace themselves to endure strong winds and debris. The high winds knocked me over while kneeling to capture an image, luckily, I went into a combat roll and my camera was unharmed. 🙂
Here are my favorite moments of this class.

Recently I had the honor of photographing two weapons qualifications for the United States Army. I wish our budget was larger and we could train more often. Here are some of my favorites, please visit

I volunteered to serve, we all serve for different reasons, we are all making a difference our own way.
” One plus one equals both. ” ~ Gregory Maguire
Recently, I was asked to photograph a wedding at the last moment, it is always an honor and such a joy when it is a happy couple who laughs the entire time.
It was a tiny ceremony that lasted less than 10 minutes! Here are my favorite moments.
A good, long happy marriage has nothing to do with the wedding, in my humble opinion it is simply two people becoming one. To me it is all about compassion, empathy, unconditional love, forgiveness, patience, loyalty, a lot of laughter and the realization that you are now “a both”.

” Music is the poetry of the air.” ~Richter
Music has always been an integral part of my life, happy, sad, angry, charging a work out, cleaning our home, relaxing in a hot bubble bath or preparing dinner for my family.
Many a road trip I have sung my heart out to my groom even before we were married.
We were married 3 years ago tomorrow, barefoot on a beach with only close friends and immediate family. We intentionally planned a simple ceremony and even though it rained most of the day, it was one of our best days.
We created a playlist of our favorite music as a parting gift to those who attended our wedding. We have decided to continue this every year.
My groom playing his poetry of the air, for me.
” If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on Earth.”
Recently I photographed American soldiers on a 9mm Weapons Qualification Range. I am almost done editing those images, here is the link to what I have completed so far
My husband Sergeant John Wesley McKithern was one of them, here are some of my favorite images of my favorite American Soldier.
Sergeant John Wesley McKithern deployed to Kosovo in 2001. Iraq in 2003 and Iraq in 2005.
We all volunteer and serve for different reasons, we each make our own last stand.
